What Causes Sudden Loss Of Consciousness?

Hi, I just experienced something that completely freaked me out. I am a 54 yr old female with several issues, however this has never happened before. I was with my son and girlfriend eating lunch. I sent Jesse to pay the bill, and somehow ended up on the floor. I am not sure what happened. I know that I was going to stand up, and the next thing I know, I am on my knees trying to get back up.
