What Causes Sudden Muscle Weight Loss When Diagnosed With Avascular Necrosis?
Hi I was diagnosed with Avascular necrosis. I had hip surgery in June, so I m doing very well in healing. The problem is I m have been loosing muscle mass. I have lost about 40 pounds due to my diagnosis..I need to build up my muscle mass,..and maybe loose about 30 more pounds in certain areas..Do you think that I can take a protein powder to build my muscle along with the exercise to build muscle...Really need to toned..
After such a surgery as is the case with hip surgery patients tend to be inactive for a long time. This may contribute to muscle mass loss. In your case you may start a gradual exercising program and start to have some extra protein with diet (meat, milk, eggs, etc) and rarely you need protein powder.
On the other hand you need to gradually go into this. It would be best for you to consult a physiotherapist who would give you exercises according to your needs and adjust them as you progress.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
