Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have just been to the toilet & have found blood in my urine. I am currently on 22.5 methotrexate per week& have had severe pain in my back for years 2 rods in my spine. Yesterday I asked my gp if I was able to take voltaren to try to ease the pain & was told only for a couple of days. I also am taking 1 tramal twice a day & I am being treated for inflamitory myopathy. Could you please tell me if the voltaren mixed with other medication could be causing tin. Thank you Dorelle Druery
hello there, Methotrexate by itself can cause blood in the urine. When it is combined with an NSAID(non steroidal anti inflammatory drug) like voltaren the risk increases. If you stop the voltaren , blood in your urine will also stop.
Tramal is fine. It does not cause any bleeding side effects as it is not an NSAID.
Hope this helps, Please do not be unduly worried. In medicine we have to manage the medications such that their benefits outweigh the side effects. Voltaren does not suit your current condition.
Please feel free to address any further queries to me. I will be happy to answer them
