What Causes Sudden Pain And Pus Filled Blood Discharge From Navel?
Hi.I am a 41 year old male that had a sudden onset of pain round my belly button when I woke up 4 days ago.It felt like I had a full bladder but after urinating I didn t feel any better. Pain has been constant ++ for 4 days more extreme when sitting. When urinating I get the feeling half way through of pulling feeling from the naval upon emptying. I have also seen 2 doctors who are very unsure I have had an abdo wall U/S to rule out hernia. There is also pus and blood coming from my naval. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
The blood and pus discharge from navel indicate acute omphalitis issue with underlying peritoneal irritation responsible for sharp abdomen pain and sensation of urinating. In my clinic, I do recommend a pus culture report of the discharge and intravenous or oral antibiotics according to culture report of the bug. Supportive care with sterile dressing, anti inflammatory medicines help a lot.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
