What Causes Sudden Pain And Swelling In The Lower Legs?

I started having sudden knee pain, with severe swelling and fluid build up in my knees lower legs, ankles and feet. It has been over a month and I am not getting any relief. Today I am having a C.T. scan on my left knee, which is worse. All of the symptoms were abruptly onset and not going away.

if its on one side only then possible cause could be lymphedema, Also a clot should be ruled out especially if you feel there is redness and warmth associated with swelling
