What Causes Sudden Pain In Arms At Night?

i woke up last night and my right arm was aching bad i tryed a massage and heat cold and took aleve and nothing helped i tryed to sleep and could not the pain was so bad,,i did not lift or do anything to cause it..i drank a sweet soda and it stoped hurting about 15 min later..what is going on
