What Causes Sudden Pain In Left Knee?

I suddenly had a pain in my left knee on the right side when extending my leg and bend it also there isnt any swelling or bruising but it came after I was in the movies I had crossed legs for the duration of the movie. And when I stood up I noticed the tenderness. I had been to the gym that afternoon and done some skipping which I don t usual do. I also get pins and needles in my leg and feet and have very cold feet and hands. I just wanted to rule out a blood clot and want to know what it is. Thanks

Hi,

There are many potential causes for sudden knee pain, including injuries, overuse, and underlying medical conditions. Here are some possibilities to consider:
- Strain or sprain: If you had your leg crossed for a long time, it may have caused a strain or sprain in your knee. This is especially likely if you felt sudden pain while extending or bending your leg.
- Meniscus tear: A meniscus tear is a common knee injury that can cause pain and stiffness, especially when moving the knee. This injury often occurs during activities that involve twisting or sudden movements.
- Patellofemoral pain syndrome: This condition is characterized by pain around the kneecap and is often caused by overuse, poor alignment of the knee, or muscle imbalances. It may be more likely if you have been skipping or doing other exercises that place stress on the knees.

- Blood clot: Although less likely, a blood clot in the leg (deep vein thrombosis) can cause sudden pain and tenderness. If you have any risk factors for blood clots (such as recent surgery or a history of clotting disorders), it is important to seek medical attention immediately.

It is also possible that the pins and needles in your legs and feet and cold hands and feet are related to an underlying medical condition, such as poor circulation or nerve damage. If your knee pain persists or worsens, it is recommended to see a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
