What Causes Sudden Pain In The Left Shoulder And The Neck?

I had a sudden onset of pain in my left shoulder, going up the nape of my neck and around my left shoulder blade. I also had some discomfort in the front of my chest. Right now, my shoulder and neck are the worst. I am a 76 year old working (full time) woman.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a pinched nerve in the shoulder.

I suggest using anti-inflammatory medication to relieve the pain.

I also suggest using anti-inflammatory cream for local application.

I recommend physical therapy if the pain continues.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
