Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sudden Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Right Side?
I have a stabbing all of a sudden pain on my lower right side. It almost stops me from whatever I am doing. it has been ongoing now for a couple of months. It has seemed to gotten worst these last few days. I have running bowel sometimes, maybe once a week.
Because the symptoms are lasting for longer then a couple of weeks you might need to do some investigations.
I would recommend you to have a visit with your doctor and very likely he will order a stool test for ova and parasite, stool culture and abdominal ultrasound (to check for hernia).
If you are over 50 years of age a colonoscopy might be indicated as a general routine examination and even stronger if you have symptoms.
Meanwhile try to notice if there are specific movements or positions that cause the pain, in this case, a muscular pain might be considered as well and in this case paracetamol, ibuprofen and physiotherapy can help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Zotaj Antoneta, General & Family Physician
