Hello - I am a 64 year old female and I have experienced abrupt sudden onset of sharp poking pain in right shoulder - not shoulder blade area. The pain has occurred 3 times this last week. I tolerate pain well but this is bad - lasts maybe 30 seconds to a minute then goes away. Pain does go down the backside somewhat of my upper right arm. After is goes I can move my arm fine - no residual pain. I do have fibromyalgia but this does not stay and is not like my trigger points. My regular meds are Hydrocodone and Metoprolol. Thank you!
Hello, Welcome to Ask a doctor services. I have read your query.
Sudden pain in the right shoulder can be indicative of nerve issue. You have a history of fibromyalgia.
Get treated for fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia may trigger neurological problems.
Sharp pain in the right shoulder may be indicative of brachial neuritis, you are suggested to get physically examined by a GP & treated.
Sometimes, heart issues may present with sharp pain in the left or both the arms, shoulders, neck or jaw. Get examined, get blood tests & imaging tests done at the earliest. Get treated. Hope I have answered your query. Take care. Regards, Dr Nupur K
