What Causes Sudden Rise In Blood Pressure On Slight Exertion?

Lately when I stand up after sitting for prolonged periods I experience what I feel is increased blood pressure in the back of my head near either ear. This lasts for two heartbeats, then stops. I seem to be able to "hear" the brief burst of tension/pressure. I am approximately eighty pounds over weight.
