What Causes Sudden Shivering With Chattering Teeth?

49 year old female, 5 8 , 211 pounds...overall healthy. Every once in a blue moon, I get a sudden severe case of the chills with shivering and chattering teeth...only lasts a few minutes and usually relieved by putting my hands under hot water and putting on a heavy robe or blanket. Is this just something that happens if the body is resetting it s thermostat, so to speak? No other symptoms...no lingering effects. Usually happens if temperature is a little cooler in apartment...last night I was watching tv covered by a blanket and when I got up to go to bathroom, I realize that it was a bit chilly in the apartment...and then I got the bad shivers. I really tense up when this happens...thought I would ask about it.

Well come to HCM
Such symptoms are suggestive of some infection and the near cause would be urinary tract infection and this need to be ruled out and for that better get done the urine analysis, along with this thyroid function test also advisable, till then in case of febrile condition this could be managed with Tab Acetaminophen 500 mg SOS, take care.
