What Causes Sudden Shortness Of Breath And Neck Pain In An Elderly Person?

I am an 87 year old male. I have shortage of breath. After a shower and drying off, I am short of breath and have a severe ache in back of neck. A few deep breaths, head back and rotated a couple of times and both symptoms stop. Same symptoms and relief when walking from one room to another or walking up and down stairs. In treadmill test by pulmonologist, increasing treadmill speed, couldn t get heart rate up enough to qualify for test, so they changed parameters so that I could pass a different test. Cardiologist said that I didn t qualify for a pacemaker. Do I just settle for as is, or do I have an identifiable health issue?

I really appreciate your concern, shortness of breath symptom could be due to allergic condition, or may be due to emotional stress, if the cardias tests are negative then it could be allergic condition only, you can rule this out and for that investigations need to be done in this direction, if emotional stress is cause then just try to control your thoughts, else it is nothing to worry hope this information helps.
