What Causes Sudden Swelling And Bruising On The Index Finger?
I noticed suddenly that my left index finger turned purple and swollen without incident while washing my hands. I became frightened and made an emergency visit with my hand doctor. Since i have been diagnosed about 20 years ago with lupus, raynaud, and sjogrens, the specialist suspected it was a vascular situation caused by raynaud. After couple days and still purple and swollen i went to the urgent care who said the same. This is the 4th day and the finger is the same but now i feel dizzy and took my blood pressure which read 85-51-81. This is abnormal for me because i usually am abnormally high and take toprol xl50 and amlodipine 5mg daily. I googled the cause of low blood pressure and came across this capillary leak when i became concerned since i am feeling dizzy.
I have gone through the blood pressure reading yourself have mentioned. It is very low. This low blood pressure is the reason for your dizziness.
So, first of all, stop your hypertension drugs. Consult your doctor again and get done blood pressure monitoring. Drink plenty of fluids orally. Take extra salt in the diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar,
