What Causes Sudden Weight Gain And Hair Loss?
I recieved my second depo provera shot in august and I've had my period ever since.. I have not been in to get my third shot. Also my hair is falling out and i gained twenty pounds in two weeks for no reason. What could be causing this? and what should i do about it?

Sometimes some women may not get adjusted to hormonal contraceptives.
According to the literature, unusual changes in vaginal bleeding like continuous spotting, excessive bleeding, weight gain, are the some of the side effects of Depo-provera.
Response to medicine and development of side effects are subjective any may vary from person to person.
Usually after starting the hormonal contraceptive, it may take few months to get adjusted.
But as even after second dose, you are having the side effects, better to stop this and shift to any other contraceptive method with your doctor's advice.
Investigations like complete blood picture, ultrasound, thyroid profile, etc. will help in ruling out other causes of continuous spotting and weight gain.
