What Causes Sudden Weight Gain During Pregnancy?

I am 30 weeks pregnant and started out at 119 lbs and a normal BMI. From weeks 28-30 I gained 4 lbs. and am now 123 lbs. I didn t change my eating and continue to exercise. Why the big weight gain? Should I be worried about the big jump? Am I going to gain more than the recommended amount?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Weight gain in pregnancy is due to the weight of the baby, increased size of the uterus,, fluid retention, increased size of the breasts.

At 123 pounds, your weight is fine. Continue eating a healthy diet to support the growth of the baby.
Once you continue eating healthy and are as active as recommended then the weight gain would be fine.

I hope this helps
