What Causes Sudden Weight Loss And Tingling Sensation In The Hands?

I am a 26 years old female. For the past two months i have suddenly lost 30 lbs., one side of my face does not move; including the eye lid not blinking, tingling sensation in both hands and frequent headaches. My primary care physician does not seem concerned. I have been proactive by contacting a neurologist who has run a battery of test and thinks it may be a virus. This does not seem right and I am scared. Any suggestions from you that I may pursue would be helpful.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I am worries as you have already been examined by your Primary Care Physician and a Neurologist.
As per my thoughts this may be due to thyroid problem with or without pituitary problems and hence a detailed examination and MRI of the pituitary along with all relevant blood tests may help to find the cause.
You can certainly go for second opinion of another Neurologist and ask for detailed investigations.
Viral etiology is known only if all the other tests are absolutely normal.
Also go for Physiotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
