What Causes Sudden Weight Loss When Diagnosed With IBS?

I started Weight Watchers last Sept. and I have slowly lost 30 lbs. which now I am trying to maintain. I use to have IBS. Now I am the total opposite. I have to use different methods to help me. I use Miralax, Metamucil, stool softeners, suppositories, even an enema when it is severe. I hate using these to aid in going. I m still not going every day either and I might have very small pieces to come out when I go to urinate not having to feel the urge to go at all. Any suggestions please. Thank you I m 70 yrs. old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Because you have had a change in the bowel movement habits recently and it is not better with the medications that you have been using for it, you will need to have a check with your doctor to rule out bowel tumors.
You will probably need a sigmoidoscopy and if needed the doctor will ask for a colonoscopy to examine the hole large bowel.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
