What Causes Sunken Under Eye After A Surgery For Blocked Tear Duct?

I have had chronic sinusitis for the last 18 months. I have had numerous antibiotics and I regularly flush my sinuses. I also regularly use a vaporiser at night. Three years ago I had my tear ducts re-pierced as they were blocked and I looked like I was crying non-stop for 6months. That surgery solved that problem. I am a 43 year old female. I have noticed that below my eyes I look more sunken. Is that aging or could it be related to the sinus problems?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The sunken area below eyes do not sound sinus problem, but rather loss of subcutaneous fat pad from weight alteration, aging causing collagen formation alteration or else most likely.

A co relation with systemic examination would be best appreciated at this junction to evaluate the cause and treat accordingly.

Till that time, balanced nutritious diet is strongly recommended to avoid further sunken appearance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
