Hello,

Many causes for swallowing difficulties in old age,
1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease.
2. Achalasia
3. Diffuse esophageal spasm
4. Cranial nerve palsy
5. Stroke, parkinsonism.
6. Glossitis, stomatitis, and gingivitis etcetera.
Until complete examination, it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your gastroenterologist or ENT specialist they will examine and treat you accordingly.
