What Causes Swallowing Difficulty Long After Titanium Plate Insertion In Anterior Neck?
In 2002 I had titiun plate inserted in my anterior neck. Lately, I have been choking on food, and having problems swolling food. I am also experiencing piercing pain in my shoulders, outer arms and hands. I was told after 10 yrs. I should have my plate removed. Can the symptoms above be due to my neck plate. If it is removed is a new one placed in. I also a back infusion in lower spine in 2007, and now I am experiencing extreme middle back pain, in which I have been told that an old fracture in that area has been causing the pain, and there is nothing to be done. My main concern is my neck. Laura
The pain in the neck radiating to other parts as your have explained is related to the cervical spine and most probably a compression on nerve roots or so. If titanium plate is not a hurdle then MRI and CT scan of the cervical spine will a proper diagnosis and thus help in exact management. Same thing goes for back spine too. Hence, consult your previous surgeon for clinical review of the situation, get investigated to have proper management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
