Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For about the last 6 months, I have had very sweet tasting saliva. My GP checked my A1C, even though I am not at risk of diabetes, and have no family history of it. Test results were normal. I have not changed any medications or otc supplements. My diet has not changed. Any ideas?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sweet tasting saliva and your doctor has already ruled out diabetes, possible chances are taste impairment, vitamin B12 or zinc deficiency, swollen gums, certain medications you are taking, dental problems and nasal infection.
Need not to worry. If it is related to taste impairment your dentist can diagnose the problem. Otherwise visit general physician once to find out exact cause and treatment can be started accordingly. Chew on sugar free gums and maintain oral hygiene.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
