What Causes Swelling After Laceration Below My Knee?

hi i had surgery to my right leg just below my knee where there wa a laceration which was down to the bone i had also effected the joint, once stiched up after op with wash out i had contracted cellulitus which has now cleared but hard swelling hasstayed around the laceration it is also hot but that could be due to previous infection ?
