What Causes Swelling Along With Inflammation On Earlobe?

I just developed a swollen earlobe two hours ago. No sign of insect bite. Lobe is inflamed, tender and red. Large bump has also developed just under the earlobe on the side of my neck also. Swollen, reddish, and sensitive to the touch. Not sure if I should go to the Doctor. I took two Benadryl tablets about 30 minutes ago to see if the swelling would go down. Any advice?

Hello. This is Dr. Praveen Jeyapathy and I will be answering your question today.
I feel you have developed an otitis externa. You need to be on Tab. Augmentin 1gm 1-0-1 x 5 days. It will decrease the pain and swelling which are present because of the infection. The large bump you mentioned could be a lymph node that is enlarged secondary to the infection.
Wishing you good health. Please feel free to drop in any more queries if need be.
Warm regards,
Dr Praveen Jeyapathy
