Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling And Burning In Perineum During Urination?
I have been noticing the swelling of my perineum whenever I urinate. I was tested by my primary physician for diabetes and have been found not to have any problem. Today, I kept having to go to the restroom. When I wiped myself, I noticed a bright pink stain and burning sensation. I take extreme GOOD care of myself. However, I noticed that my perineum had dropped lower than normal. Presently, I am seeing a brighter blood flow and I am extremely frightened. What should I do?
Hello and welcome to HCM, It is important to ascertain whether the bleeding is from vagina or urethra. I suggest you to get a urine routine test. Blood in the urine could be due to trauma to the urinary tract, stones, infection, inflammation etc. On the contrary the bleeding could also be from the vaginal tract. Bleeding from vagina could be due to dysfunctional or abnormal uterine bleeding. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and preliminary investigations.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
