What Causes Swelling And Dark Discoloration On The Left Foot?
I went to a theatre last week, Friday, May 7,...I felt something on my left foot...theatre was dark, could not see. When I came out my left foot was swollen and has been black and blue up into the toe area, sore to the touch. I can walk with no problem....the swelling has gone down, still black and blue....not sure what to think...can you help? Thank you
Hi. As per your case history you are probably having an insect bite rash. My treatment advice is - 1. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 2. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling for 5-7 days. 3. Apply ice on blue-black skin for faster recovery. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
