General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Swelling and discoloration involving shin and ankle after injury do indicate hematoma formation and secondary changes. Following guidelines will help you:
- Local application of ice
- Keeping leg elevation over 3 pillow support
- Avoid pressure bearing
- Prescription antibiotics as penicillin or others anti-inflammatory medicines such as Diclofenac, Serratiopeptidase

Certain cases do require Incision and drainage for the unresponsiveness to conservative medicine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
