What Causes Swelling And Discoloration Around The Eyes?

I started using a cpap about a month ago. started with full mask because I m a mouth breather. I had a lot of irritation around my eyes. they would swell, look black and blue and skin was extremely dry. Switched to a nasal pillow with a chin strap. Eyes got worse. I ve stopped using for 4 days. I now have a pimple inside my eye lid. The swelling has gone down but my eyes are still very irritated. Will I ever be able to use a cpap successfully?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling and discoloration around the eyes. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like eye infection , acne , allergic , eczema , conjuctivitis and scabies . It can also occur due to poor immunity of body and due to side effect of some medicines . I would suggest you to maintain proper hygiene , take antihistamine like benadryl , prevent your skin and eye from direct sun light , wear eyeglasses to prevent your eyes from harmful UV radiations and dust. Avoid applying any hard cosmetics on face and apply cold compresses on eyes. Consult ophthalmologist for proper examination . Doctor may order skin test or allergy test along with blood test . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with antibiotics and anti inflammatory and corticosteroid eye drops .
