What Causes Swelling And Discoloration Of The Lower Lip?
My 55 year old friend has a problem with swelling on one side of his lower lip with dark discoloration. It does not happen everyday, but does seem to be made worse with significant exposure to sun. It does not hurt. There are no sores. He has been to many doctors but no one can figure out what is causing this. He is very healthy and does not take any daily meds.
As per your query you have symptoms of swelling and discoloration of the lower lip which seems to be due to sun blisters and due to melanin deposition due to excessive exposure to UV rays of sun.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you not to brush your lips at all as that will cause bleeding and cracks. Use tea tree oil dipped in cotton swab for fastening the healing and prevent discoloration. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight. Apply natural lip balm on lips to prevent from drying and don't apply with finger as again and again that will cause infection and apply directly. You will get relief in 1-2 weeks, if your condition keeps on persisting visit dermatologist once and get it examined completely and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
