What Causes Swelling And Inflammation Around Drug Injection Site?

my friend shot up about 3 days ago and she missed and her arm (under the skin) is very hard like a rock and swollen and red.(like its irratated). She said it itches very bad also. Her whole body has been itching every since too. Her arm hurts very bad and she cant lay her arm straight. Its been like this for almost 4 days now. Should she be worried? What should she do? Is this really bad? Please respond.

Can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that she has an Allergic reaction to the drug which she has injected leading to inflammation at the site of injection which is causing pain,swelling as well as itching at the injection site as well as itching all over the body is a clear sign of Drug allergy..

You should immediately consult a physician and get evaluated..

In case of allergic reaction antihistamines like allegra or benadryl can be relieving..

In severe symptoms injectable antihistamines and steroids should be taken for faster relief..

For pain she can take anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..

At the site of injection ice packs can provide relief from itching ,redness..

Steroid based ointments can be applied..

Avoid intake of the drug that has caused allergic reaction to avoid reaction in future..
