What Causes Swelling And Inflammation From The Knee To The Ankle?

My husbands right leg is swollen and red from his knee to his ankle. He woke up in the middle of the night and his knee was killing him. This was 5 days ago. He works a lot on his knees in construction, but he does not remember a specific incident. Does he need to see a doctor. Could it be serious?

Yes, it could be. I cannot say as the swelling could be anything from venous thrombosis to cellulitis.
