What Causes Swelling And Inflammation In The Feet?

My husband is 50 years old and has a hx of gout. About a week ago, he ate a hamburger and had a flare - we thought. He takes a cherry supplement daily but had been out for 3-4 days. He has a prescription for Allopurinol when he has taken once a day since then and added the cherry supplement back in around Wednesday. Today, he woke up and his foot is swollen and red. These are not typically his symptoms with a flare up but there is no hx of injury. He seems to be getting worse instead of better.

In my opinion the symptoms are not related to gut.
The symptoms can be related to other medical conditions such as blood clot or cellulitis.I suggest you to do :
-A complete blood count
-an ultrasound of the leg
These examinations will help for further evaluation and treatment.
