What Causes Swelling And Inflammation On A Surgical Scar?

I have a surgical scar that runs the length of my left hip due to an auto accident and orthopaedic surgery (pins and rods in my hi and femur). In the last few weeks the middle portion of the scar began to itch and I noticed the color is red to black (I am a brown-skinned african-american person). It also appears swollen in that spot (feels like a large lump) and warm to the touch.

hii.welcome to healthcare magic.i understand your problem.my opinion is that,you are having hypertropic scar.
1.dont squeeze the lesion.
2.apply hexilac gel twice daily over the bump.
3.take vitamin E supplements once daily for 3 months.
