What Causes Swelling And Itching Around The Area Of Insect S Bite?

I have been bitten by a small insect. The insect bite is such that, after some time there is swelling and itching. The swelling seems to be a bit hard around the area of the bite and is observed only after 10-12 hours of the bite. What would you prescribe?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that swelling and itching at the site of insect bite seems to be probably due to allergic reaction to the toxic chemical present in the bee sting and it leads to inflammation and swelling..
Nothing to worry as it does not seems serious.

-You can start takinganti-histamine/ anti allergic like levocetrizine or benadryl..

-You can apply steroid ointment like Triamcinolone acetonide over it..

-Do cool compresses over it..

-Avoid scratching it if it can itch as it can cause infection..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
