What Causes Swelling And Limp After Operation In Ankle?

Hia! January 12th 2011 i had fallen down the stairs and broke my tib fib and dis my ankle. I hade an opperation and i now have plate and pins on one side and pins on the other side. Had the cast off on the 3rd march. Consultant gave me a few excersises to do at home and told me i didnt need any physio. I have been walking on it and putting more weight everyday. Im worried as im walking with a limp and i have really bad swelling. Is this normal? do i need physio?
