What Causes Swelling And Numbness In Fingers?

I had carpal tunnel release surgery March 13. Both hands. Have been experiencing numbness and swelling of ring and pinky fingers since. Both hands. Take Metformin and Losartan daily. Now are experiencing numbness in toes of both feet and feeling of a tightening band below my breasts. Have appointment with doctor scheduled for Fri but am getting almost panicky worrying about probability the numbness in my hands is not symptomatic of carpal surgery but rather an unrelated and much more serious medical problem. True?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for sharing your query on Healthcaremagic, I have carefully worked through your case and you are right, I don't think that your symptoms are related with your carpal tunnel surgery, you are taking every day metformin and that's a drug used in the diabetes treatment ( at least that you are taking to lose weight ) if you have a diabetic condition I think you are developing some complications like diabetic neuropathy, just talk with your doctor about different ways to prevent or minimize the symptoms, I hope that my advice has been helpful, take care
I find this answer helpful
