What Causes Swelling And Numbness Of Lips?

I JUST woke up with a really weird swelling on the right side of my lower lip. It feels like I was given a shot to numb the lip itself, and its bloated as well as kinda numb.. When I relax my face my lips look ridiculous like I'm trying to pout (my lower lip juts out and the right side looks slightly larger). When I try to smile, my mouth goes all crooked and its really scary. Also, throat slightly hurts. It's very minor compared to a regular sore throat, but when I swallow, I can still feel a little pain. I just felt like I should mention it as everything matters. It might also be important that I feel no pain on my lip.. it just feels really bloated.

I was also suspecting some sort of allergic reaction. I recently moved to china, and perhaps I am unused to the air here.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am 16, 5'7'' and have no history of allergies nor am on any notable medications.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems to be some sort of allergic reaction and can be due to a number of causes like bug bite, side effect of any food or medicine, exposure of skin to any unknown allergen etc..

I would suggest you to take anti allergics like benadryl or levocetrizine, do cool compresses over the lip and drink plenty of water to wean off the effect of the allergen faster..

Avoid licking,biting or scratching the lip..

In case if there are recurring episodes of same condition consult an Allergist and get evaluated..
