What Causes Swelling And Pain At The Point Of Tooth Extraction?

I had an tooth extraction done tuesday afternoon. It was a right lower moler. I noticed Wednesday night a small blood clot and a piece of what looked like a small piece of a tooth. Thursday it started to get stuff over the clot its whiteish stuff over the clot. Its Friday afternoon and its fully covered with the white stuff and its kinda yellowish. I used gauzed the first two and half days and i rinse a few times a day with warm salt water i still have pain and i feel its a little swollen whats going on?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The series of events described by you indicate healing of the extraction site.
The extraction site undergoes bleeding initially.
The bleeding leads to formation of clot.
The clot is soon undergoes organisation by development of granulation tissue.
The white-yellow stuff that you see is probably the organizing granulation tissue.
Mild pain is associated with the extraction site for initial few days.
You can take painkiller for the pain.
Rinsing with warm saline water will be helpful in healing process.

Thanks and take care
