What Causes Swelling And Pain In Ankle After An Injury?

hi i fell down the stairs a few weeks ago and twisted on my ankle, the pain wore off for a while but has now come on stronger with burning and a tingling sensation, it is slightly swollen and i can still walk on it with pain. what could this mean, thats its broken or twisted badly?
