What Causes Swelling And Pain In Foot Along With Fever And Chills?

I have two bug bites above my left ankle on each side. This is after having a previous bite 2 months ago. My foot is swollen, I had a night of fever, chills, severe fogginess and joint ache. Now my big toe is starting to show signs of red bumps. Skin above foot and front of calf is tight. While a feel better today the aches on the foot persist. Any idea??

Hello,

The redness, fever and chills over foot following bug bite indicate cellulitis with possible gram positive bacteria as staph aureus or else. Need specific care to cure it such as:
- Elevation of affected foot over 3 pillows when resting
- Avoid prolong weight bearing with affected foot
- Avoid tight shoes or sandals
- Local application of ice

- Prescription of antibiotics such as Amoxicillin with Clauvulanic acid to cover gram positive bugs, anti inflammatory medicines such as diclofenac or else, proteolytic enzymes such as serratiopeptidase
- Control of blood sugar is very very vital and essential

Regular follow up with consultant and medications can save you from devastating complications of abscess and osteomyelitis over long term untreated cellulitis conditions.
