What Causes Swelling And Pain In Pubic Area After A Full Hysterectomy?

I just had a full hysterectomy done on the 21st of April. I ve had nothing but pain since. My pubic area is very swollen and painful. Also pain where the incision area is. I am highly constipated plus my bladder is weaker. Being in this much pain scares me. I am 49 years old.

Hello,

Persistent swelling and pain in the pubic and incision area, combined with bladder weakness and constipation, can be exhausting. Your symptoms are indicative of fluid build up or internal hematoma. It can also be due to post-surgical infection. Bladder or urinary tract issue or nerve tissue healing pain. You are advised to get a follow-up clinical examination done by your Surgeon.

After clinical examination if infection has been ruled then get a pelvic ultrasound or CT scan done to check for fluid collection, abscess, or hernia. Apply warm compresses (not hot) on the pubic area for 10–15 minutes to ease pain and promote circulation. Avoid lifting, bending, or long sitting. To get relieve, you can take acetaminophen, one only after lunch to help subside pain and inflammation. Avoid self medication. Get urgently examined so that treatment can be started before symptoms get worse.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
