What Causes Swelling And Pain In Right Arm Inspite Of Suffering From ITP?
i ll try---so far no one seems to b able to figure this out. my 82 yr old Dad. He has ITP, stage 4 kidney failure (x 10 yrs) Our main problem these past 8 weeks is his arms! Rt arm swelled up---cellulitis ---antibiotics, kinda went away---then other arm. Been going back and forth for weeks! This time arm swelled so large he cannot lift it. Back in hospital. First told he had blood clots---both arms. Plts ranging from 22,000-45,000. Didn t add up. Now 2 weeks later no clots---arm HUGE painful- purple/ red hasn t started ozzing Yet! hbg down to 6.7 gave him another unit of blood. He has had 3 units in 2 weeks. My question, can this arm edema this servere be caused by to many transfusions?? He s had over 100 plus IVIG countless times Help----good luck Damn sorry----didn t realize you had to pay---I Really just can t right :(
The large purple colored swelling is probably due to internal bleeding and thus blood collection in tissues secondary to ITP. I suggest you to keep in touch with your hematologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
