What Causes Swelling And Pain In Shin After An Injury?

A month ago I feel backwards onto my my shin while getting into the shower. My shin hit the corner edge of the tub hard! I went abd had an xray. The urgent care Dr said she saw no fracture. Probably deep tissue bruising. (Not much tissue on the shin I say) however it still swells greatly and is numb in the area when I'm on my feet. Still has bruising and is painful when not swollen. Not sure what to do.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....

As per your complain it seems that due to soft tissue injury there has been inflammation of soft tissues and accumulation of inflammatory exudate, cells and blood can lead to swelling..
I would suggest you to do alternate warm and cool compresses over the swelling and bruised area..
You can also apply an analgesic gel containing Diclofenac..
Apply heparin containing gels..
Take Ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation..
You should also elevate your leg while lying down..
Limit standing hours and also excess of physical work..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
