Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Swelling And Pain In Testicles And Lower Back?
My brother has sore very swollen testicles, he also can t walk and has pain in his lower back, what could the cause be and should we send him to hospital? He s 37 and a current alcoholic. My mother and I are very concerned as he is not eating either. Please help. Thank you.
Thanks for posting your question on HCM/ I really appreciate your concern towards your brother's illness.
I am of the opinion that your brother might be having inflammation of testes and the tube ( epididymo orchitis) could be the reason behind his inability to walk. Besides the lower back ache could be due to infection of urinary tract that sometimes accompany.
If severe testicular pain develops suddenly, it should be treated as a medical emergency until testicular torsion (blockage or reduction of blood flow to the testicle) is ruled out.
You are advised to take your brother to ER of the hospital form immediate consultation to rule out the testicular torsion.
Best regards/
