What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Ankle After A Skin Laceration?
Hi, I have a question, I wore some heels on Friday and I didnt notice, but they cut the back of my foot. Well it s been 4 days now and the cut really hurts and it s red and my ankle is swollen and red and the pain is going to my knee. is this normal?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.
An infection might be a very likely cause of the redness and swelling that is going towards the knee. It is very important to see your doctor soon so he can examine you and give some antibiotics. You will also need would care (cleaning the wound and covering it with clean gauses). For pain you can take paracetamol and ibuprofen and elevate your leg when possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Antoneta Zotaj, MD
