What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Ankles?

My co-worker and I have been walking for approx. an hour twice a week about 2.5 miles each time. I purchased really good walking sneakers from my niece who sells them for a living. However, now my left ankle seems to be slightly swollen and a little sore and my heal hurts a little too. (I can see the swelling only when I compare it to the other ankle). I can walk with slight discomfort on the left heal and ankle. I told my co-worker I will not walk again right now until I can remedy this problem. What can I do to get this bit of swelling down and get rid of the pain also?

You can try elevating your affected swollen leg for 20-30 minutes in a day. You can also try taking anti-inflammatory pain relievers for the pain and swelling.
