What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Feet And Ankles?

Hi, my moms 85, I ve had her to her heart dr. For swelling in hurt feet &rankles. He had a vein specialist come in she told her she has three bad veins , 2 in one leg and one in the other . She also said she doesn t feel like the swelling in the feet are related. That it looks like fluid in them. That was 2 days ago. Yesterday she saw her GP, he told her she needed a stronger water pill. She took it for the first time this morning. While I was there today, noticed that they re larger than I ve ever seen them get! Does it take a while for the water pills to kick in and start working? Why are they so much bigger than before? She also has a very bad cough. That s why she went to her G P in the first place. I called them for the results of her X-rays , they said they were clear. No phnewmonia. So I m happy about that.

I have read your question and understood your concern .
There are different reasons that cause swelling of ankles.
First , it might be Heart Failure
Second , it can be kidney failure
Third, It might be deep vein thrombosis
Even more rare causrs but the above three are most frequent.
