What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Left Ankle?

I have had my left ankle swell up almost everyday since last October, have taken x-rays & all looks good, was told this could be a tendinitis and was give a cortisone shot. The arch of my foot usually hurts and it does not matter what types of shoes I wear as well. Not sure what to do next.

You need to do MRI scan to evaluate ligaments and tendons and it should show if surgery is required.
