What Causes Swelling And Pain In Throat?

Hello. For the past few weeks I have been having soem throat problems. Food seems to keep getting stuck in the lower part of my throat and no matter what I do I cannot get it out. I have to just put up with it and wait for it to go away on its own. I also have chest pressure sometimes after eating. The top of my throat also feels as if its swollen, like I pulled a muscle or something on both sides. It aches, and there is sometimes weird pain in that area, and somethings it gets kind of itchy. I have also been getting headaches along with this. I went to my doctor, and she is sending me to do a barium swallow test, but told me that the top of my throat hurting was just in my head because I think something is wrong with me. I am not very impressed with her help.... Please help! Thanks
