Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swelling and red bumps on the tonsils which is known as tonsillitis can occur due to bacterial or viral Infection and could be due to coinfection. Need not to worry about it.

I would suggest to :-

- Do warm saline rinses several times a day .

- Maintain proper oral hygiene.

- Avoid oily and fried food.

- Avoid cold carbonated beverages.

- Take advil for pain and swelling .

Take combination of antibiotic for 3-5 days. As tonsillitis occurring is not an abnormal finding so if you have any frequent issues you can get them removed ( tonsillectomy )by visiting ENT specialist once and after through examination. Taking medication and doing warm saline gargles and steam inhalations will relieve your symptoms.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
